Weighing solid samples for analysis
- Select the appropriate sample container and place it on the balance.
- Tare the balance.
- Add the sample to the container.
- Fold and press the container to remove all air from the sample. For larger sample containers, use the manual pressing tool to compress the wrapped sample.
- Check the stability of the wrapped sample by letting it fall a short distance onto the benchtop.
- Finally, weigh the wrapped sample and record the mass.
